Before coming to DARPA, Dr. Highnam was the director ofresearchattheNationalGeospatial-IntelligenceAgency(NGA),onassignmentfromtheOfficeoftheDirectorofNationalIntelligence(ODNI),fortwoand ahalfyears.Priortothatassignment,heservedsixyearsattheODNI’sIntelligenceAdvancedResearchProjectsActivity(IARPA),initiallyasanofficedirector,andthenasdirector.
Dr.Highnamworkedfrom2003until2009intheU.S.DepartmentofHealthandHumanServices(HHS).
Initially, he served as a senior advisor in the National Institutes of Health (NIH), withresponsibilities in areas where high-performance computing intersects with biomedicine andpublic health, including computational epidemiology.
